It was incredibly exciting when Olivia J, a follower of mine on my instagram feed, said she would be willing to review my book. It was incredibly nerve-wracking when she messaged me later and told me she'd finished the book...in under a day.
Less than 24 hours? That can only mean one of two things. Either she was so enthralled by my work that she read it in one sitting...or she was so bored by it that she gave up after just a few hours.
I was hoping for the first, but prepared for the second.
"The whole book was a breath of fresh air from the steamy romances and serious dystopian trilogies that pollute YA today. " -Olivia, Oliviajthewordshaker.blogspot.com
Happily, Olivia J quite enjoyed the book. She did have some constructive criticism though, she felt the characters and plot could have been more fleshed out and the book a bit longer. I can't say I disagree, I don't. I actually did flesh out the secondary characters a lot when I went through on my final few rounds of editing.
But Olivia J is right, I could have done more. But then, you can always do more. And it was time for I'm On Your Side to get into the world, as is. I made the decision to stop tinkering and publish. I'm glad I did and it has been a very enjoyable learning experience.
I can't say enough how proud and happy I am that Olivia J wanted to review I'm On Your Side. Please go check out her blog and leave a comment to let her know what you think. Or better yet, share the post on Facebook or Twitter. Happy reading! #wearereaders
